Hello world!…my earliest memory
My earliest memory of drawing is my mum showing me how to draw a bird. As you can imagine it was a very simple outline for a preschool infant but I remember how I enjoyed the feel of the coloured pencil on paper and how happy I was with the result. This together with the encouragement of my Mum – which would continue throughout her life – gave me my first appreciation of drawing. Continuing into school in Manchester I was always seen by my fellow pupils as someone who could ‘draw’ this in practical terms meant copying some image.
